  • In October, 1924 John Meeker, head of the lending group took control of the Newton Company. On January 1925, Newton succeeded in replacing him by legal action. Meeker did manage to take the parts on hand for some 260 rifles to Somerville, New Jersey, where he assembled them into completed guns under the Meeker Name. In the little catalog there is a picture of three men with three nice deer - "A Story Without Words" - it is good there were no words since the Guns they are holding is a Winchester 94, Ross and a Winchester 95!
