New Books:
With all the rush during the holidays I had time for only about 25 new books but among them are a couple of gems, The Mexican Rurales Regulations and Illustrations 1880 and the Storrs & Candee 1894 catalog (you may click on the underlined blue links to go directly to that page). Jim Hughes translated and assembled the Rurales book years ago and we are fortunate he shared it with us along with his recent updates. Storrs and Candee sold many off-brand and unusual guns, various of which we get calls about all the time. They also sold both Ideal and BGI reloading instruments. Check it out.I also tried to get caught up with Stevens catalogs that have been piling up. They drive me nuts with their apparently random choices of catalog numbers and no dates on most. Maybe Nick Niles will double check the dates for me. I also made a small dent in the backlog of Winchester catalogs and will try to do more in January.
Advice Needed:
I need your advice. I have used Ebay as a primary source of advertising for three years mainly because it allows me to closely control sales to a manageable level, but it is getting even more expensive with the New Year price increase and I am thinking about a small in-column classified advertisement in several different magazines. In late October I changed the entrance of the website to make it simpler for computer novices. Those of you who are more computer savvy can still select the old front page by going to the More Advanced Computer User link. All the links splitting the collection up by era, maker, nation, ammo, reloading etc are accessed through the Advanced link.Please let me know if you didn't get an email in the start of December. It should have gone out on the 7th or 8th but as usual I am uncertain if the mailing program is working properly.
